Snowflake Obsidian Egg

Obsidian is formed as lava cools from volcanic eruptions within the earth. Although its most common color is black, obsidian can be found in shades of gray, brown and deep blue.

Snowflake obsidian is black and opaque, with the appearance of whitish "snowflakes". The snowflake appearance is caused by the inclusion of crystallites. This interesting form of obsidian is found in Utah and Wyoming.
