Fluorite properties

Fluorite is an interesting and beautiful stone because often more than one color occurs in a single stone. The ancient Egyptians used flourite to carve statues and scarabs, the Chinese have used it in carvings for over 300 years.

Fluorite Mineralogy

Formerly called fluorspar, fluorite is relatively soft and easily scratched. For this reason, it is not an ideal stone for jewelry. The wide range of colors include yellow, blue, pink, purple and green. It can be found in Canada, the US, South Africa, Thailand, Peru, Mexico, China, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslavakia, Norway, England and Germany.

Fluorite meaning in folklore

It is said that fluorite helps increase concentration and ability to make sharp decisions. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as the "Genius Stone". Some people use it to absorb and neutralize negative vibrations as well as to make one more receptive to the vibrations of other stones.
